  • 1. Skin regeneration

One of the natural functions of the skin is regeneration. This process involves getting rid of dead and old skin cells in order to make room for the new ones. One of the most interesting skin facts is that the regeneration process gets slower as we get older. This is why children always have fresh, rosy cheeks while adults have to deal with pale, dull and dehydrated skin.  Aside from age, direct sunlight exposure can also slow down the skin’s regeneration process. If you want to keep you skin healthy and smooth, protect it from harmful sunlight, hydrate it (by drinking plenty of water and regularly applying creams) and exfoliate it once in a while in order to help the regeneration process.

  • 2. Age spots

What we refer to as age spots are actually sun spots.  We are talking about those annoying brown spots which spread all over your body as you get older. Well, these spots are the results of cumulative sun exposure and in order to avoid them, you must use high SPF creams, every time you go outside. Therefore, if you properly care for you skin, you can cheat your way out of some of the unpleasant signs of getting older.

  • Stretch marks

Stretch marks appear when elastin and collagen break down, creating red or purple skin striations. They are one of the most common skin problems as they are almost impossible to get rid of. However, there are ways in which you can prevent stretch marks, even through pregnancy and other weight fluctuations. The best way o prevent them is by constantly exfoliating and hydrating your skin. However, if they do appear, you can get rid of them if you apply retinoid creams in the initial phase of their appearance.  Unfortunately, the only efficient solution for older stretch marks is laser treatment, which can be quite costly. As you can see, the skin is a very important organ and if we want to maintain it beautiful, we have to care for it properly. Another great way to care for your skin, aside from using the proper lotions is to include some skin friendly elements in your diet such as leafy greens, nuts and seeds. These foods are also beneficial to your nails so if your nails are damaged from sophisticated or easy nail designs, a skin friendly diet will also rejuvenate your nails. One thing is for sure, whether you use easy nail designs or sophisticated acrylic nails which damage your nails or you simply want to care for your skin, a good diet is the best way to stay healthy and beautiful.

We hope that you have learned some valuable lessons from these beauty related skin facts. Our skin protects us against lesions and diseases but it is our responsibility to care for the skin in order for it to maintain its fresh appearance.
